How to compose a strong conclusion for a research paper easily

A strong conclusion is at least as important as an interesting introduction. While concluding your research paper you may feel one of two temptations.

  1. To hurry to the end/stop short and procrastinate OR.
  2. Write a jubilant paragraph now that you have finished the difficult and lengthy task of writing a research paper.

Resist both. The conclusion of your research paper is a very important part of your document. This is where you vindicate your thesis and tie all the threads together to present it beautifully.

Revisit the thesis statement: Write the essence of your thesis statement without using the same words. The point is to remind the reader or marker why they have read all of the paper.

Restate the main points of your paper: Mention all the main points again. Combining the first sentence of all the paragraphs can do this. You can take the main line of every page if your research paper is lengthier.

Synthesize Show how all the evidence supports/negates your thesis statement and how the thesis statement looks now. Instead of repeating yourself, try to synthesize your thesis and ideas into meaningful and conclusive statements. Suggest future research: Every research paper has its limitations. Suggest how your research points the way for more study in a certain direction.

Call to action: Including a call to action, for example, further reading and review, or experiment, is going to make your reader continue to think about your research even after putting your paper down.

Maintain the tone of your research paper: Do not abruptly switch tones in the conclusion. For instance, if your paper has a formal tone it is imperative that you maintain it until the end. Writing emotional appeals or overtly excited phrases can ruin the impression you made until now.

DO NOT introduces a new idea, point, or evidence at this point. This is a surefire killer!

Fluidity: Make sure your conclusion flows from sentence to sentence and is easy to read.

The conclusion is the section that your reader will remember best. It is the place where you make your ideas shine and your intellect and hard work felt. You have to be careful that you do not botch the job. Your conclusion should end with words that are memorable and make the reader think about your work with a fresh perspective. Leave the perspective open to your reader’s choice with a relevant question.
